The shadows fell across the still waters surrounding the abandoned house on the bog. Ravens flocked to the roof, awaiting the souls that were trapped inside to confess their sins. Inside the haunted rooms lay the scene for gruesome acts that no pure spirit could endure.
Chany grudgingly walked the rooms with her boyfriend. Cameron convinced her that it would be fun to spend the night in the haunted house. Besides, they could be alone together for the first time in months.
Chany’s parents were particularly good at making sure they always knew exactly where she was at all times. But tonight was Halloween, so her parents had gone to a party and had agreed to let her spend the night at her friend’s house. Little did they know that she wasn’t anywhere near her friend’s.
The floorboards creaked eerily as the ravens squawked outside the windows. She moved closer to Cameron and grabbed his hand as they tried to find a bedroom that they could spend the night in. The wind howled through the cracks, causing a chill to run down Chany’s spine.
“I don’t like it here,” she complained.
“It’s going to be fine. We’ll find a room and then we can just talk the night away.” Chany knew better. She knew this was the night they were supposed to “do it” for the first time. She was prepared. She had brought condoms and she started birth control a month prior just to be on the safe side. She didn’t know if she was ready, but she wanted to be prepared anyway.
It was around midnight when it all began. It started with what sounded like a woman’s scream. Then the banging against the walls began. Furniture started moving around the room. Chany couldn’t control herself. She started screaming at the last.
They grabbed their stuff and started heading down the stairs. Something grabbed Chany’s foot and she fell down the rest of the flight and landed with a resounding thud. She couldn’t move at first. The wind had been knocked out of her. When she was able to breath again, she realized that she had broken her ankle.
Cameron carried her the rest of the way only to find that the door had been locked. He put her down and tried the windows, but they were all boarded shut and he couldn’t manage to pry the boards off.
They each took out their cell phones to try and call for help. An evil laughter echoed in the background as they realized the batteries on both their phones were dead.
“What now?” Chany cried.
“I guess we have to try to wait until morning.”
That’s when they saw it. A shadow detached from the wall and moving towards them. The last thing Chany heard was her own scream as it closed around her.
