“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States. “
Lately I have been seeing a lot of posts on social networking sites about the supposed 28th Amendment. What surprises me is that those people who are posting and reposting this Amendment seem to believe it is actually real. They don’t even know that there are only 27 Amendments to the Constitution. They don’t even bother to open up a new tab in their browser and Google it.
Why is that? Have we been so dumbed down that we don’t even know how to research a topic anymore? That we simply believe something because it is on Facebook? Is this what our country has come to? A nation of idiots?
Don’t get me wrong; it’s a decent idea for an Amendment, just not one very likely to get passed through Congress. I’m sure people would like to believe it is real. I would like to believe it; I’m just not foolish enough to believe everything I read on a social networking site.
