Homosexuality is not wrong

This is a general idea of a conversation my son had in his health class today with his teacher. This is not the actual conversation because he couldn’t remember exactly what was said word for word.

My son: “Homosexuality is not wrong.”

Teacher: “The correct phrase is ‘homosexuality is not wrong in my eyes’.”

My son: *Looks right at the teacher* “Homosexuality is not wrong.”

Now, how do I give my son a high five and still tell him that he shouldn’t talk back to his teacher?

  1. You don’t. When teachers (or anyone) is giving wrong information, they should be challenged. Your son was 100 percent right in what he did. Don’t reinforce that he shouldn’t talk back to his teacher. Reinforce when it’s appropriate to talk back to your teacher.

    • Very good point. And if we didn’t live in a seriously small town in the heart of Texas where we are outsiders I would probably agree with you 100%. At least my son knows what is true. He even told me that nothing they could say to him would ever make him change his mind. I’m totally proud of him. This particular teacher is a problem for us in general. I’ve blogged about her class before. She’s the same teacher that my daughter has that argued with my daughter about the priest.
