This is my first review for something like this. In March, my daughter subscribed to Ipsy and receives free samples and full-size products on a monthly basis for only $10 per month. I liked her bag, but we thought I should try Birchbox so we would be getting different items every month and we could share. So, this is my first box from Birchbox.
I must say that I really like the box, however, that being said, I’m not sure what do do with it. It’s too nice to throw away, but I don’t really think I will have any use for it. Ipsy items at least come with a makeup bag every month, that I would be able to use to organize my growing collection of products.
The first item I am going to review is the jane iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain. I received the sample size of this item and I’ve got to tell you that I’m definitely not impressed. It feels and tastes like a ChapStick, and other than making my lips look slightly glossy, there is absolutely no pigmentation whatsoever in this product. Other people seem to like it, but I am not about to spend $25 to purchase a full-size version.
This next item is the Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel. I also received a sample size of this, but I sincerely wish it had been a full size. I’ve used it once and with only a very small amount it had amazing results! I just love the way my skin feels after using this. If I could afford it right now, I would definitely be buying the full-size version.
Third in the box, is Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream. I haven’t actually used this sample yet, but I did swatch it and I liked the results. Hopefully I will like it when I actually put on a full face.
Fourth in the box is Temple Spa Peace Be Still Calming Face & Body Balm. I received the sample size of this as well and absolutely love it. The smell is definitely calm and soothing, like being at the spa. It also makes my skin soft and smooth.
Lastly in the box is Harvey Prince Yogini. I’m not really sure how I feel about this sample. I put it on today and my dog kept trying to eat my hair (which he has NEVER done before) and my cat kept trying to lick my wrist. There must be something in it that animals like. Perhaps it is the myrrh? I kind of like the scent, but I’m not so in love with it that I would buy a full-size version no matter what the price.
So, that’s it. That’s my April Birchbox. I hope you found this interesting or helpful in some way. I’m going to go ahead and continue the subscription for one more month to see what the next one is like. But, in the meantime, I’ve already subscribed to Ipsy to see what they may have to offer. Hopefully I don’t get all the same products as my daughter, but that is unlikely to happen since they personalize each box.
By the way, you may click on any of the product pictures and it will take you to the website so you may see more details about the products and purchase them if you wish.
