New Year, New Attitude

Dear Mom

2017 wasn’t exactly the best year for me.  My mother passed away in January, which was just a very bad indicator for how the rest of the year was going to go.  As soon as I returned to work from family leave, I ended up getting really sick and missing almost another month of work.

One of my best employees got promoted (very happy for him), but it has been a struggle finding a good replacement for him.  I think we FINALLY found someone, but it’s already the end of the year and a lot remains to be seen.

The year has also claimed many celebrities we knew and loved such as Mary Tyler Moore and John Hurt.  It also is considered the most deadly year for mass shootings in more than a decade.

It’s been a fairly terrible year and one I am ready to leave behind.

That being said, it hasn’t all been bad.  I got to go on my very first ocean cruise with my father and my kids.  I also got to visit three other countries other than Canada.  I’m also still waiting to hear on a job promotion that would move me to Dallas.

2018

Plans for 2018:

  1. Hopefully start my new job.
  2. Hopefully move to Dallas.
  3. Plan my next cruise better (we are leaving November 4, 2018).
  4. Lose some weight before my next cruise.
  5. Start eating healthier.
  6. Teach the kids how to drive.
  7. Get the kids another car so they can get jobs and go to their own doctor appointments, etc.

These aren’t resolutions.  These are goals.  Two of them are out of my control, but the other five are completely doable.

I am a 43-year-old, single mom of 19-year-old boy/girl twins living in an extremely small town in rural Texas. Currently, I am employed as a Site Supervisor for a prominent corporation that provides security officers for homes and businesses.
